![]() The premise of a world where humanity is rapidly chasing any and every possible “improvement” and the cast of maladaptive characters sent into space seemingly because they frighten the hell out of everyone else on Earth is horrifying enough, but when Blindsight really gets going, it turns into a frightening first-contact story where the aliens and the humans terrify each other to the point that they brutalize the other side in desperate self-defense. Set in a future where humans have taken transhumanism a bit too far and narrated mainly by a man who had half of his brain removed to “cure” his epilepsy, Blindsight follows the crew of the Theseus as they investigate a strange object in deep space. ![]() ![]() If you’ve ever looked at science fiction and wondered why all these technological advancements and alien races are portrayed a trifle too optimistically, then Blindsight is the book for you. ![]()

![]() Surely this issue was put to bed (haha) after the porn wars of the 1980s. The thing is, all of this was supposed to be settled by now. “I think it really destroyed my brain and I feel incredibly devastated that I was exposed to so much porn,” she added. Some of them are uncomfortable with the results: In 2021, for example, Gen Z star Billie Eilish made headlines for calling porn “a disgrace.” She started watching porn when she was 11 years old, she said, even when it gave her nightmares. My main issue with Part Of Your World has to do both with how Alexis treats Daniel and basically hides him from the people in ‘her world’ (even though you can partly understand why) and also with how she lets the people in her world (including her father and ex) treat her. There were also some things that niggled me. I also loved the chemistry between Alexis and Daniel, and how things developed. I absolutely loved the Wakan setting, the community feel of the town and both Daniel and his dog Hunter. Add the promise of a baby goat and small town setting, and I was even more convinced I HAD to pick it up! An now that I’ve had the chance to read it, I can understand the love for this story. I’ve enjoyed her work in the past and I do love an opposites attract romance, so of course I couldn’t resist reading Part Of Your World sooner than later.
